Vanguard Team projects:

Some examples of projects undertaken by members of the Vanguard team include:-

AED Oil Limited, Puffin Field Australia, FPSO procurement & engineering services, 2006

Vanguard secured the DP shuttle tanker Gerrita and carried out a FEED study for AED to validate her suitability for FPSO conversion for the Puffin project. Vanguard then undertook detailed conversion engineering works. The vessel is now to be utilized as the FPSO on the field.

Detailed activities included vessel procurement, project management, establishing DNV class requirements, process engineering & procurement,

Tanker refurbishment & conversion engineering, mooring selection & procurement, installation procurement and planning & cost control.

The project commenced in June 2005 with the FEED phase. This was followed by the Conversion phase which was concluded in March 2006.
BP Angola, Greater Plutonio FPSO project: marine advisory services, 2005.

Vanguard has been providing BP with marine advisory assistance concerning export system aspects of this newbuild FPSO, which will be the largest in the world on delivery in 2006.

Premuda SPA, FPSO advisory and business development services, 2005.

Vanguard has assisted Premuda, as majority owners of the FPSO “Four Vanguard” with matters related to the current contract with ENI, and with identification of new opportunities to employ Premuda tankers in the FPSO and FSO markets. A number of projects have been bid jointly by Vanguard and Premuda.

ENI Australia Woollybutt project: provision of FPSO “Four Vanguard,” 2002-2004.

Vanguard team members secured this breakthrough contract with AGIP Australia Ltd (ENI Group) and were responsible for the design, conversion, installation and hookup of this FPSO at the Woollybutt field offshore Western Australia, where she is operating very successfully. The vessel has a specially designed internal disconnectable turret mooring system. In the words of a senior Agip project manager, this fast track lower cost solution “broke the previous mold of what was thought possible in the supply of FPSO’s to the Australian market.”

PTTEP Thailand Bongkot project: supply of temporary FSO “Four Lochs” 2002.

Vanguard team members successfully sourced, converted, and installed a temporary FSO at the Bongkot field offshore Thailand for PTTEP in a record 3 month period from award to hookup. The vessel then operated with very high uptime for more than 12 months until the original unit was repaired and returned to the field.

Devon Energy Brazil Carauna project: supply of F(p)SO “Estrela do Ceara” 2001

Vanguard team members secured a contract from Devon Energy (then Santa fe Snyder) to supply an F(p)SO for the Carauna field offshore Brazil. The scope included sourcing the tanker, conversion at a UK shipyard, mobilization, installation and hookup, including providing the mooring system.

Amni International Nigeria Ima project: operations support, FSO “Ailsa Craig" 1999-2003.

Vanguard team members sourced an FSO, the “Ailsa Craig”, and provided on-going operations management services assistance to the client based at Port Harcourt Nigeria. Much valuable operations experience in Nigeria was gained from this project.
